Uruguay hosted the first Research Camp in Latin America because of the quality of its researchers and its strategic location as a regional hub. These features make it the ideal gateway to promote scientific collaboration and innovation in the region.
The Research Camp, a multidisciplinary event, brought together researchers with diverse specialties and backgrounds (medicine, biology, mathematics, physics and chemistry) to address exceptional challenges in the life sciences and health sciences. The main objectives of these events are to
promote collaboration between experts and to boost innovation in solving critical problems in biomedicine.
During the Research Camp, these researchers worked on five case studies, which came from both academic centres of excellence and Roche’s own R&D initiatives. Each case study raised a specific objective issue requiring an interdisciplinary approach to resolve it over an intensive week, enabling a holistic and creative approach to addressing the challenges and generating innovative solutions to advance knowledge in these critical areas.
The ambition is for the results of the Research Camps to be openly published and ultimately shared with the global community.
